About Mazaj

Mazaj was created by two co-founders whose mixed cultural backgrounds shape the way they see and scent the world. Having first met through competitive swimming, they realized they weren’t interested in the postcard view of a place, but in the ordinary hours locals move through and whether that could be bottled as a fragrance.

Mazaj exists to translate the real, everyday life of a city into scent. Each fragrance is built as a city portrait drawn from routines and spaces: streets, apartments, transit, cafés, night walks, rather than monuments or clichés. The aim is for what you smell to feel like the city’s inner climate, the part people actually live in.

Every scent in the collection is developed slowly, with tight formulas, high quality materials, and a clear narrative at its core, so that each bottle carries a precise, grounded identity for the city it represents.

Alexandre Yazedjian

Alexandre is an eager, sharp, and highly collaborative co-founder who lives at the crossroads of numbers and creativity. He guides Mazaj’s financial strategy, supplier partnerships, and overall growth, ensuring the brand is as strong behind the scenes as it is on the bottle.

With roots connecting Armenia, Lebanon, Egypt, and Québec, and having explored more than 15 countries, Alexandre has always felt drawn to cities: their energy, their rhythms, their stories. Fragrance became his way of capturing the places that shaped him, a way to carry a city’s atmosphere long after he’s gone.

A 20-year-old business student and dedicated swimmer, Alexandre splits his time between the pool and the spreadsheet. He’s constantly discovering new neighborhoods, new restaurants, and new corners of the world, fueling the inspirations that eventually become Mazaj scents.

Co-Founder, Creative Direction and Scent Design

Yamen Hamada

Yamen leads Mazaj’s creative direction and shapes the identity of every scent. Calm, passionate, detail-driven, and naturally intuitive with aesthetics, he defines the brand’s visual world and builds each fragrance from its first spark of inspiration to its final form.

Raised in a Middle Eastern Egyptian family where authentic Arabic oils and traditional perfumes were part of daily life, Yamen grew up surrounded by scent. From an early age, he became fascinated by how fragrance can hold emotion, memory, and culture all at once.

At Mazaj, he designs scents that feel honest and grounded. He focuses on the emotional and cultural story behind each perfume, ensuring every city in the collection smells like itself, not a generic version of it. Outside the lab, Yamen is a competitive swimmer and an avid reader of history, constantly exploring how civilizations expressed identity through scent, art, and ritual.
